r/technology – Apple employees call for more flexible remote work policy in letter to Tim Cook

WFH can feel and be great, but is anyone else concerned over the long term effects it could have on people?

I mean not next week, but rather in 5-10 years, i suspect there will be articles and studies publicized about the mental health and social anxiety of eternal WFHers.

My experience is that you work more at home than in an office, and its way easier to work well past your usual times. Emails pinging all evening. It feels way more similar to being on call than being at home. I havent really noticed that it leads to more socializing, rather the opposite. Why bother going out at 6PM when i havent showered and are already in my slackwear.

I keep being reminded and seeing signs of what i have read and seen about hikokomoris and their existence is nothing to be jealous about.
